Tutor Ward System
The tutorial system as envisaged by the UGC aims at improving personal rapport between the teacher and the student both academic and social. As a pedagogic model the tutorial system has great value because it creates leaving and assessment opportunities through sessions in which students are expected to orally communicate, defend, analyze and critique the ideas of others as well as their own in conversation with the tutor and fellow students. Tutorial sessions enrich the teaching-learning process by focusing on smaller groups and catering to the individual needs of the students. This system of learning involves an intense interaction between the student and teacher.
Our College has the Tutor Ward System in our college since 2013. Every week one hour is set a part for tutorial session. The students are divided into small groups and put under the personal supervision of a tutor. Faculty member has the additional voluntary responsibility of molding and guiding their wards in all academic and personal issues. The rules and regulations welfare measures and various scholarships available to them are explained to their wards.
Slow learners with difficulties in understanding and learning the subjects at the pace it should be are paid individual attention guided and trained by the tutor on the better ways of learning sharing of their own personal problems with their mentors serve a sign of healthy relief to the students thus enabling them peacefully concentrate on their studies.
PTA Parents Teacher Association:
This Association has been formed to increase the bondage between the parents of the students and the college Teachers. The PTA conducts regular meeting every semester to bring about revolutionary impacts for the development of the college. It also helps in promoting the relationship among teaching learning community.
Ward Profile :
The Tutorial co-ordinate in consolation with the college council prepares the tutorial guidelines for the year. The students are asked to fill in and submit a tutorial card that contains their personal profile, educational background their interests hobbies and also their career goals in life.
Every tutor keeps a record of the all-round information of the tutees under her supervision. The Head of the department make periodical assessment of the conduct of the tutorials in the Department. Later they send the report to the tutorial coordinator.
The academic performance of the student in each semester is sent to the parents. It is to make them aware of their children’s academic growth.
Thus the tutor wand system makes the tutor to take up the role of a mentor. They help in all round development of every student.
