BA. Economics course focused on the Core fundamentals of Economics, its theories and applications. It covers both qualitative and quantitative Courses. This course provides extensive knowledge about the practical and technical
concepts to run the world.
The subject has given out legends like Dr.Manmohan Singh, P.Chithambaram and present Finance minister Mrs. Nirmala Seetharaman.
To cater the demands of the present day the course has been re-structured from BBE to BA Economics.
Four of our faculty members are Doctorate and remaining one holding M.Phil degree holder with SET -2017.
Eligibility for Admission
Students who have passed Higher secondary course preferably with economics, Maths, Accountancy and Computer Science as optional subject are eligible to apply for this course.

The department is enriched with competent staff members who have holding Ph.D degree.
In addition, the syllabus under CBCS stream is designed in such a way that students are trained to face the challenges of the present day.
Revision of Curriculum
After the revision of 2008-09 (CBCS) Syllabus in the year 2014-17 and 2017-20 has been restructured.

Alumnae Association
Alumnae meetings were organised frequently by the department of Economics. Feedbacks were collected from the students, they were analysed by the staff members and their suggestion were considered in ordered to promote and enhance academic performance of the department. It is to be noted that our department alumnae a members serving in police department, some of them are Teachers and sales Executives in private companies in and around Tamil Nadu and Mumbai
TUTORIAL CLASSES
Faculty members of this department makes themselves available till4.30PM and the students can freely approach their staff members for clearing their quires on the related subject. Staff members were providing guidance and motivation for their higher education or Career.
Personal counselling was also given to the students according to their needs Financial assistance also given to the students by the staff members for those who are Economically weak, Students talents are identified through counselling as a result the students are equipped well in participating extracurricular activities within the college and also in the university level programme. Our department students used to participate the cultural events every year conducted by JJ College of Arts and Science, Puddukkottai & Department of women’s Studies, Vivekanandha Study centre, Allagappa University, Karaikudi.
Dr.R.Nageswari have done question paper settings for major and ancillary subjects for Tiruvalluvar University and Annamalai University.
Dr.R.Nageswari, and Dr.T.Chitra are acted as a chief superintendent of our college for Madurai Kamaraj University and Allagappa University.
Bridge Course-IBA
This course gave our students an awareness of the positives of college life, which ensures greater motivation as well as access to new Technology. Students have to know the difference between new learning and the lesson thought in schools.
Bridge Course that helps students to bridge the gap between Higher secondary curriculum and college level syllabus to make study preparation for higher studies. On the first day learners will be able to acquire the basics of Economics and culture, introducing oneself, speech, aspiration, hobbies and about their families.
Bridge course really assists student to meet their further studies entrance exams, for college level courses. The course starts after higher secondary and ends before joining the colleges. So, this course entirely enhances and inspires students. To follow and they get ideas to tackle and to be confident to getting admitted in wishing courses increasing overall potentially.
Above all, this course really assists to open golden door of the student’s future.

VALUE ADDED COURSE
Value added courses aim to provide additional learner centric graded skill oriented technical training with the primary objective of improving the employability skills of Arts and Science students.
The main objective of the programme is to provided an opportunity to students to develop inter disciplinary skills
Value added course are designed and offered by our department for the benefit of the students. These courses are conducted after regular college hours, so that each student will have completed at least two value added courses.
Employment scene today requires a student be an all-rounder with several skills. Value added course gives the chance to update student’s skill in a fraction of time and money, but the value they create is very high
It helps the students to have a foundation on which to build their career. It polish the students skills and enhance their employability.
ADD- ON COURSE
The objective of the scheme is to introduce career, market oriented and skill enhancing add –on course that have any job, self employment and empowerment of the students.
This person will run parallel to convenient degree at the end of the year. The student will be equipped with a certificate in value added course along with a convenient degree in arts.
Candidates pursuing UG graduate are eligible to take up one of thee add-on courses simultaneously with their regular course of study

This department students medium of school education was Tamil, they are struggling to understand the concepts in Economics. So our faculty members taught with Tamil Language and provide Tamil notes along with the prescribed text books.
We divided the students into three groups as slow learners, below average and above average we admit them to this course with cut off marks from 150-350. The class representative support the week students by their group guidance.
The students are guided more and motivated to answer the questions since they are very week in their studies.
Students are encouraged to participate in the conference, seminar and workshop.
Students were trained to understand their entrepreneurial ability skills. Monthly wise training programme were conducted.
Academic Activities
Department of economics has included lessons like an Environmental Issues, Career oriented Programmes, Women Empowerment, Women Issues, personality development programme and Human Rights. This department has a very good tutorial system under which each class has been put in charge of a teacher who helps the students in all possible ways. They monitor their study progress and solving their personal problem, giving counselling and motivate them in extra curricular activities.

The Department conducted Economic Association every year we used to conduct Inaugural function with an eminent person to deliver a lecture in different topic related to recent trends in Economics.
Apart from the Economic Association we organised a various departmental Activities such as Quiz programmes, field visit and Educational tour etc..
Our staff and the students participated in various seminars, workshop, conference and international conference which are conducted by the various colleges and universities.

Service to the society
Apart from NSS and NCC ,our Students were doing service Sivan Kovil ,Perumal Kovil pallathur. They have cleaned the sivan kovil Pond.Our department students educate the children at the gandhi padasalai ,pallathur.
Our students visited Middle School vadakudi & veeramuthu puram frequently to school and thought the students to maintain health and hygine.
Our students create the awareness in the minds of the schools children to avoid the usage of polithen and plastics.
Our Department students and staff members were visit near by village every year. Our department adapted Vadakudi for promotion their standard both academic and non-academic.
